In this video a clear bond between father and daughter is shown. We can see a relationship filled with love. Kanye, the rapper, is holding and playing with his daughter North, and by the expressions we can see how much he adores and treasures her.
The main character, Kanye West, portrays a protective and caring image, as he stands over his daughter. He looks powerful and strong next to his small daughter. He is always focussing and looking at North, showing that he cares a lot about her and doesn't want her out of his site. He clearly cares for her a huge amount.
The ‘home-movie’ styled film, allows the audience to think this is something which could potentially just be a home movie shot by the West family. It is a simple hand held film, however there is so much love and affection held in the clip.
The video is shot in the English country side, which feels a perfect setting for this music video, because the focus is not on the setting, as it is very low key and not vibrant, e.g a club. It is suitable for this sort of relationship, as it is a beautiful and calm setting, similar to the relationship on show to the audience.
The song, which is a ballad written from the perspective of Kanye’s late mother Donda West, to North West, is fitting to the video because it is slow, which accompanies the softness of the video. You can also hear footsteps and other diegetic sounds which is comforting and allows the audience to feel as if they are there witnessing the moment. Kanye's voice is also placed over the song, giving more of a home video feel to it.
The camera technique hand held throughout the whole video, this is a more relaxed style of filming, but defiantly fits the context and completely allows the audience view it as a home video, featuring Kanye and North. There is a variety of close up, medium and long shots, which keeps the video for repetitive.
This is a montage styled music video, as it has a complication of a number of different shots, which the majority involve Kanye and daughter North interacting with one and other. It portrays a close and loving relation ship.
Usually Kanye’s music is in the genre of Hip Hop, however this song in particular is in a different genre. It is a a soul and melody genre. He is breaking barriers, which have not previously been approached by a musician of his sector.
